About Us

Meet Our Founder, Caryn "CJ" Jaffe
A Different Kind of Instrument
CJ’s first dream was to perform as a professional flutist and piccoloist in a symphony orchestra. While unexpected health challenges changed her path, they never changed her purpose.
Today, Lucky Lizards are her instrument.
Where she once expressed emotion through musical notes and trills, CJ now composes through color, design, and delightfully outrageous storytelling. Each Lucky Lizard carries its own rhythm—a blend of sunshiny optimism, bold intention, humor, and gratitude—created to spark hope, invite connection, and remind us of our shared humanity.
An award-winning Paramedic (former) and Registered Nurse with over 32 collective years of clinical experience, CJ’s career spans EMS, ER, PICU, pediatrics, critical care transport, EMS, IV therapy, vascular access, infusion nursing, decentralized clinical trials, legal nurse consulting, and healthcare fraud, waste, and abuse investigation. She also operates a thriving Mary Kay business and thoughtfully incorporates the highest-quality self-care products into her signature Lucky Lizard Gift Sets and Mystery Boxes—bringing comfort, encouragement, and joy to recipients.
CJ is widely known for her contagious sense of humor, compassionate spirit, and unforgettable storytelling. Patients, families, colleagues, and friends alike know she always has a Lucky Lizard nearby—ready to share at just the right moment. She believes deeply that small gestures—a smile, a laugh, a moment of connection—can transform even the hardest days.
Outside the studio and clinical world, CJ embraces life with extraordinary enthusiasm. She is a seven-time Ironman triathlete, 10x marathoner, triathlon coach, flying trapeze enthusiast, musical theater lover, and avid sky and cloud photographer. She serves as Vice President and Webinar Moderator for the Maryland Society of Integrative Medicine (MSIM) and is a respected legal nurse consultant and patient advocate.
While navigating her own chronic health challenges, CJ continues to live with fearless optimism, resilience, and humor. She credits movement, creativity, and nightly stand-up comedy with fueling her spirit. Her journey is not defined by limitations, but by possibility—and by her unwavering belief that joy, like Lucky Lizards, is meant to be shared.
